Students in North Tonawanda can get associate’s degree alongside diploma

North Tonawanda, N.Y. (WBEN) – One local school district is offering classes in cooperation with SUNY to help high schoolers earn college credits while earning their diplomas.

North Tonawanda City Schools Superintendent Jeff Jachlewski says there are two ways students can earn credits.

“We have our PTEC program, which is our Pathways in Technology program. So that is moving towards earning an associate’s degree in computer science through SUNY Niagara, so they take classes at our high school during their Freshman and Sophomore years, and then take some additional classes at our high school. But then also have a partnership with SUNY Niagara where they would take some classes there,” said Jachlewski in an interview with WBEN. “We also offer CAP classes, which we do partner with both Buffalo State University and SUNY Niagara, and we offer 24 different CAP classes that offer SUNY credit for our students as well.”…
