BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized about 450 pounds of cocaine at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge last week from a commercial truck heading to Canada, CBP said.
CBP alleges that officers working in the outbound lane encountered a 21-year-old Canadian man driving a commercial truck and trailer on Sept. 22. A physical inspection of the trailer revealed that the floor had modifications, officials said, and the trailer was sent to secondary inspection after a canine search.
During secondary inspection, officers found 174 vacuum-sealed packages of suspected cocaine, which field-tested positive. Officials said the cocaine weighed approximately 450 pounds and had an estimated value of about $6 million. The incident was referred to Homeland Security Investigations Buffalo for further investigation.
