Buffalo man sentenced after stalking victim, setting fire to her home

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man will be spending the next 18 years in prison after he repeatedly stalked a victim and set fire to her home in Buffalo’s Seneca Babcock neighborhood, the Erie County District Attorney’s office announced Wednesday.

On the morning of Sept. 4, 2022, Scott Sinwell violated an order of protection and followed the victim as she drove down Seneca Street, officials said. He pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal contempt.

On Oct. 24, 2022 Sinwell, 44, was released on his own recognizance despite an effort by prosecutors to keep him held without bail. The next day, Sinwell violated the order of protection again by repeatedly calling and texting the victim…
