BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says the City of Buffalo is facing a $103 million deficit – slightly less than Mayor Sean Ryan’s $109 million projection.
DiNapoli cited years of the city’s reliance on one-time-revenue opportunities, including federal COVID aid to cover budget gaps. Common Councilmember Leah Halton-Pope said these findings did not come as a surprise.
“This was years of mistakes collectively,” Halton-Pope said. “We can’t keep blaming how we got here, now it’s how do we get out of it, and it cannot be on the backs of those taxpayers.”…
