Scorching hot with scattered downpours and storms Monday

FORT MYERS, Fla. — It’s going to be another very hot day across the Gulf Coast, with afternoon and evening downpours and storms helping to cool down a few locations late in the day.

We’ll start our Monday with a warm and muggy start, as sunrise temperatures settle into the middle and upper 70s. Your Gulf Coast Weather Most Accurate Forecast calls for mostly sunny skies through the morning, allowing temperatures to climb quickly. High temperatures this afternoon will range from the lower 90s at the coast to the middle and even upper 90s inland. Factoring in the high humidity, afternoon feels like temperatures will be close to 105 degrees in most locations.

While the first half of the day will be dry, scattered downpours and storms will begin to develop across our deep inland areas during the mid afternoon, spreading westward into the evening. While the highest rain coverage today will be across Desoto, Glades and Hendry counties, a few storms will slide westward all the way to the coast in the hours around sunset. Severe storms are not expected, but a few will be strong with torrential rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds.

Similar conditions will persist for both Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the middle and lower 90s and afternoon storms mainly favoring inland areas…
