Region still in ‘red’ for drought, fire danger

Most of Southwest Florida remains in the “red” this week, meaning the region is in an “extreme drought,” with no immediate relief in sight.

The National Weather Service updated its Drought Monitor on Wednesday, and it still shows all of Florida, and nearly all of the Southeastern United States, in either moderate or extreme drought situations.
