2 women wounded in shooting as IMPD insists downtown is safe

INDIANAPOLIS — At 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, there was an altercation at South Meridian and Washington streets just a block off Monument Circle that left two women wounded by gunfire.

”So we believe this is an isolated incident at the moment; it appears to be an argument between two individuals,” said IMPD Sgt. Christopher Higgins, who added that officers were “reviewing video from our community partners that has been provided and we’re working through the evidence.”

The police report lists a male suspect and a 16-year-old female as another person present at the shooting, several hours after the city’s curfew ordinance for children would have taken effect…
