Police shut down unlicensed Indy club, destroy 3,000 containers of alcohol

INDIANAPOLIS – Police destroyed nearly 3,000 containers of alcohol this week while shutting down an unlicensed club on the northeast side.

On Monday, detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Nuisance Abatement Unit and Indiana State Excise Police searched “The Playhouse” on Arlington Avenue and discovered evidence that the establishment was operating illegally.

Police had been keeping an eye on the business. In May, detectives presented their case to the Marion County Local Alcohol Board, in which a woman applying for a permit for 3344 Arlington Ave. didn’t disclose the true owner’s involvement…
