Indiana man armed with a katana and shotgun arrested after woman choked unconscious

LEBANON, Ind. — A Boone County man faces several felony charges after an incident involving guns and a Japanese longsword reportedly ended in him drunkenly choking a woman until she was unconscious.

Marcus Dains, 28, of Lebanon was arrested earlier this month and charged with nine felonies, including battery, strangulation, criminal confinement, intimidation and pointing a firearm. He has since been released from Boone County Jail on a $2,950 cash bond.

Court documents detail how Dains began drinking alcohol on the night of June 8 after getting off work. He then reportedly got into an argument with a local woman and began to turn violent inside his apartment unit on Poplarwood Drive.

Dains allegedly brandished a shotgun and started making threats to shoot the woman, telling her he would also shoot any police officers if she called the cops. He later began brandishing a katana and swinging it toward her head, the victim told officers…
