Docs: Funds for Mishawaka Fieldhouse used by Indianapolis company owner to purchase Florida home

INDIANAPOLIS — An owner of an Indianapolis real estate development company that specializes in large-scale sports complexes has been charged in a federal civil complaint.

This comes after court documents claim that he and his wife fraudulently used millions of dollars aimed for a project in Mishawaka to purchase a home in Florida.

According to the complaint, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana on Thursday, James Card, the owner of Card & Associates, along with his wife, Martha Card, “engaged in a scheme to defraud, and through that scheme, fraudulently obtained money, which was then later used to purchase (a home in Florida).”

The complaint was filed as a verified complaint for forfeiture in REM, which aims at forfeiting the Cards’ home in Marco Island, Florida, a home that officials claim was purchased through fraudulently obtained funds…
