Nobody puts a sign outside their restaurant that says “we don’t try too hard here and that’s exactly why you’ll love us,” but if any place could get away with it, Charlie Brown’s Pancake & Steak House in Indianapolis would be the one.
It’s on Main Street in the Speedway neighborhood, it’s got a black awning with gold letters, and it has been quietly making people very happy for a very long time.
The word “no-frills” gets thrown around a lot, but it’s worth being precise about what it means here.
