INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Indiana’s flash flood risk is increasing Saturday morning as heavy rain moves eastward out of Illinois, adding to already saturated soils across the region.
Forecasters say the additional rainfall will only compound existing hydrologic issues in areas that have already received significant rain, raising concerns about further flooding as the system tracks east.
Rain Bands Could Bring 1 to 3 Inches
It remains unclear how well the storms and rain will hold together as the system extends eastward, though if the activity does hold together, some areas could see an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain.
Radar shows a broad area of moderate to heavy rain currently spanning from near Davenport and Burlington through Peoria, Macomb, and Galesburg, extending toward Champaign and Springfield as it pushes into western Indiana.
