IMPD: Man arrested following early July fatal shooting on near northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — A 27-year-old suspect has been taken into custody following a fatal shooting in early July on the near northeast side of Indianapolis.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Keith Lewis was arrested on Monday on a preliminary charge of murder. This is in relation to a fatal shooting in the 2500 block of Brouse Avenue on July 5.

According to previous reports, officers responded in the early morning hours of July 5 to a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 46-year-old Christopher Hutchinson, had been shot.

Hutchinson was transported to an area hospital in critical condition before he was pronounced dead from his injuries, IMPD officials said at the time.
