HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Kentucky may be well known for its production of bourbon, but a recent survey suggests the number of adults in the bluegrass state abstaining from alcoholic beverages may be on the rise.
A study by AddictionResource.net analyzed 14 years of data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. States were ranked based on the percentage of adults who said they did not have an alcoholic drink within the last 30 days.
Kentucky ranked fifth place in the nation, with 58.2% of adults saying they had not imbibed within 30 days, a 1.3 percent increase from the last time the survey took place in 2011. The increase in sobriety moves Kentucky from the previous ranking of seventh in the nation…
