Hundreds of counterfeit jewels found in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Hundreds of pieces of counterfeit jewelry were seized by the United States Customs and Border Protection officers at an Indianapolis express consignment facility in mid-August.

Authorities have estimated that if the 875 pieces of jewelry and five handbags were authentic, their retail value would exceed $3.7 million.

The Hong Kong shipment was headed to a Georgia residence when officers pulled the package for inspection. This examination revealed counterfeit earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and purses from the following designers:

  • Louis Vuitton
  • Chanel
  • Versace
  • Gucci
  • Tiffany & Company
  • Cartier
  • Van Cleef & Arpels
