TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An individual convicted of second-degree murder in Las Vegas, as well as charges in multiple other states including Indiana, was sentenced in a Vigo County court Thursday.
Alexander Buzz, 34, is accused of shooting a man whom he and his partner, Emma Malone, 30, attempted to rob at a Burger King on Wabash Avenue in September, 2019. Malone was sentenced for the same crime in February, receiving six years in the Indiana Department of Corrections followed by two years of formal probation. Malone also received 1,322 days of credit toward her sentence.
Buzz appeared in Vigo Superior Court 5 on Thursday for a change-of-plea hearing. At the hearing, Judge Matthew Sheehan accepted the sentencing recommendation for Buzz and he will now serve 11 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections on a single charge of aggravated battery when the assault poses a substantial risk of death. The other two charges were dismissed with prejudice and Buzz received 944 days’ credit toward his sentence.
