INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Hot and humid conditions today will give way to scattered strong storms this afternoon and evening. Heavy rain and cooler temperatures will follow on Thursday.
TODAY: Storm Threat This Afternoon and Evening
We’re tracking the potential for a few strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening across central Indiana. The primary threat will be damaging winds, especially across areas south of Indianapolis where we’ll see the best heating and instability develop.
Timing: Look for storms to fire up during the afternoon hours, continuing into the early evening before activity diminishes.
Highs will reach the upper 80s north of I-70, with southern counties climbing into the low to mid-90s. It will feel warm and humid throughout the day with dewpoints in the low 70s.
Tonight Into Thursday: Widespread Rain Returns
After an evening lull in storm activity, our next round of weather moves in. A frontal boundary will sag south across the area tonight, setting the stage for more widespread showers and storms to develop near daybreak Thursday.
