INDIANA — Multiple schools across Indiana could face delays, early dismissals or closures Monday as forecasters warn of a severe weather threat capable of producing damaging winds, hail, tornadoes and flooding rain.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, much of Indiana is under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms Monday as a powerful storm system moves across the Midwest.
Forecasters said numerous severe thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front stretching from the Great Lakes into the Plains. The Storm Prediction Center specifically listed Indianapolis among the larger population centers within the slight risk area.
The forecast discussion noted that storms moving through Illinois during the morning could continue eastward into northern Indiana later Monday, bringing the potential for damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail.
