His name is Stephen Vincent Chavez, he is 41 years old, and the sentence handed down on Tuesday, June 23, has sparked the kind of outrage that does not go quiet overnight.
Chavez was sentenced to one year in Ventura County Jail and three years of felony probation, according to Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko.
