NCLL DISTRICT 6: Wilson blows out Morrisville to advance in Ages 10-12 tourney

Facing another elimination game in the North Carolina Little League District 6 Ages 10-12 tournament Monday, June 29, at Gillette Baseball Complex, the Wilson City Little League All-Stars mowed down Morrisville 13-1 in four innings to live another day.

Wilson, which drubbed Person County 12-2 on Sunday, will take on Bull City, a 17-6 winner over Johnston County on Monday, in a third straight elimination game Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Southern Bank Stadium. The winner Tuesday faces South Durham in the losers bracket final Wednesday at 8 p.m. while Supper Optimist of Wilmington awaits its opponent in the championship game. Supper downed South Durham 7-2 on Monday.

With four runs in the top of the first inning Monday at Southern Bank Stadium and another four in the second, WCLL administered a quick knockout punch to Morrisville. Wilson batters racked up 14 hits, including four in the first frame. Tony Jones doubled in a run and scored on Colton Moore’s single in the opening salvo for Wilson. Jones then slugged a three-run home run in the second as part of his 3-for-3 night at the plate that included five RBIs and three runs scored…
