A sweet snack sold around the country, including in North Carolina , has been recalled after it was determined it could pose a risk for a “life-threatening” reaction.
Chuao Chocolatier issued a voluntary recall on May 3 of a single production of its Potato Chip Mini Chocolate Bar due to the potential of some packages containing undeclared hazelnut due to cross contamination, according to a recall notice from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration . While the label notes that the product is “manufactured in a facility that uses tree nuts and wheat on shared equipment,” the undeclared allergen could cause a “serious or life-threatening” reaction to consumers with a sensitivity or allergy to hazelnuts.
The recall only affects the .39 oz/11 gram Chuao Chocolatier Potato Chip Mini Chocolate Bar with the Lot Code 4022 and a Best By date of 22 FEB 25 and UPC Code of 872629006615 . The product was sold online and in retail stores nationwide, with the exception of Hawaii and Alaska. No other Chuao Chocolatier products are included in the recall.
