You can get $80,000 to build a tiny home under city’s new $1.75 million ‘affordable’ program

A few US cities have launched similar initiatives this year to solve housing affordability issues.

In Durham, North Carolina, officials are collaborating with Coram Houses for the Affordable Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Pilot Program.

Through $1.75 million in construction loans from the 2019 Forever Home, Durham program, qualifying residents can build tiny homes on their properties and rent them out, according to a press release.

However, the units must remain budget-friendly for at least 30 years…
