VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach Fire Department is investigating after an abandoned building caught fire on Tuesday. Firefighters said they were called to the 1900 block of Lava Beach Lane, off of Twin Mills Road, just after 11:20 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, crews located an abandoned building that was fully involved in fire, as well as nearby trees.

SUFFOLK, Va. — An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on Tuesday morning. According to jail officials, staff were alerted to the fire around 5 a.m. in the inmate laundry room. The Suffolk Fire Department was called to the jail, and firefighters were able to contain the fire to a bin of inmate uniforms.
