Armed robbery in La Vergne leads to multiple arrests
LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WZTV) — La Vergne Police Department officers responded to a serious armed robbery incident involving multiple suspects. Officers located the car in a pursuit after the suspects attempted to escape. Suspects threw a gun from the car, and officers released spike strips. Multiple suspects were detained.

According to arrest papers, Jeanmaria Chirinos Machado is accused of stealing 38 packages while working as a deliver driver. There were 81 items in those packages with a total value of $2,260, police reported.

Inmate dies at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — An inmate died after being found unresponsive at a CoreCivic corrective center Friday night. Staff found the inmate unresponsive in his housing area at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center around 9:47 p.m. and started lifesaving measures right away. Medical staff called for help and paramedics took him to a nearby hospital.
