Forest City among 13 Iowa projects getting funding from AARP

DES MOINES, Iowa — AARP says it has awarded $162,557 to 13 organizations across Iowa to fund quick-action projects aimed at making communities more livable for people of all ages, especially older adults.

The grants are part of AARP’s Community Challenge program, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. AARP says it committed $8.3 million nationwide to fund 750 projects, doubling last year’s total.

The funds will support improvements to public spaces, transportation, housing, digital connectivity, disaster preparedness and other local priorities. AARP says the goal is to help improve social connections and strengthen neighborhoods and towns of all sizes…
