MARION, Iowa (KCRG) – A more than 150-year-old mansion in Marion has a new owner who said he stepped in to save it from demolition.
The Smyth, built in the mid-1800s, houses 52 apartment units. It’s under the ownership of Eric Gutschmidt. He said he knew the building was worth preserving before he even stepped inside.
