The Foxhead Tavern, a local bar known for its storied history in Iowa City’s literary community, could soon become a historical landmark.
The bar at 402 E Market St. is set to be rezoned to add a historical overlay following a public hearing at the Aug. 4 Iowa City City Council meeting.
The designation will add protections for one of the “Best Dive Bars in America,” requiring approval from the historical preservation commission for exterior improvements while also requiring that they keep the bar’s historical design in mind…
