CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Construction will begin Monday on a new downtown Cedar Rapids trail segment that will connect the existing 4th Street Trail to the Alliant Energy LightLine pedestrian bridge.
The project will extend the trail from 7th Avenue SE to the bridge, which is also under construction. The new shared-use path will be 10 to 12 feet wide and will include signalized pedestrian crossings at 8th Avenue SE.
As work gets underway, 7th Avenue SE will be closed between the railroad tracks and 5th Street SE. In addition, 5th Street SE will be closed between 7th Avenue SE and 8th Avenue SE…
