Local pools change Sunday schedules due to poor air quality

LINN COUNTY, Iowa — Wildfire smoke is affecting air quality across Eastern Iowa, prompting changes at local public pools on Sunday.

The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department announced that all city outdoor pools will operate on a shortened schedule, with open swim available from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 19. Officials say the change is due to poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke.
