The Iowa City School Board held a closed session meeting Thursday to discuss an employee, but board members refused to answer questions afterward about the district’s leadership or its financial crisis.
The school board renewed Superintendent Matt Degner’s contract last July for another three years. But if the board wants to remove him, it needs to let him know by Friday, according to state law.
The closed session comes as community members have urged the board to hold district leadership accountable for a financial crisis years in the making.
