SC State University Concert Choir to perform at Spoleto Festival Tuesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The South Carolina State University Concert Choir will be making a special trip from Orangeburg to Charleston to perform at the Spoleto Festival on Tuesday.

The choir, which is led by Dr. Johnnie J. Felder, is comprised of several student soloists, including Brianna Lloyd, a senior music education major; Jayden Wright, a senior music industry major; Javell Patterson, a sophomore music industry major; Semontae’ Grant, a senior psychology major; and Kennedy Cunningham, a senior music education major.

The evening will feature excerpts from the forthcoming documentary “When Porgy Came Home” by Lauren Waring Douglas, live solo performances by Felder, the SC State Concert Choir, Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Charlton Singleton and members of the original 1970 Porgy and Bess cast, including Anthony Burke…
