Kaia, a new restaurant from Chef/Partner Raheem Sealy, will open later this year in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood of downtown Charleston.
The restaurant, which will be located in an intimate space at 186 Coming St., will draw from Sealy’s Caribbean roots and global culinary influences to create a menu that blends the flavors of his home with Asian-inspired dishes.
Born and raised in St. Croix, Sealy discovered his passion for hospitality while working as a dishwasher at a local hotel. He later relocated to Miami to attend culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu. Following graduation, he honed his craft at several acclaimed restaurants across a variety of cuisines, sparking a love for global flavors and, in particular, Asian cooking.
