NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A North Charleston man has been arrested after a car chase through a residential neighborhood turned into a hit-and-run with a parked vehicle that left one woman injured.
North Charleston police arrived at the 1900 block of Hawthorne Drive on June 13th after receiving a call from a victim who reported being injured in a vehicular collision. The caller told police that she was standing outside of her parked vehicle, securing a child in the rear passenger seat with the door open. When the two vehicles sped past, one of them struck the open door, pinning the victim between the vehicle and the open door before speeding off. Police observed visible injuries on the victim upon arrival.
Officers identified the driver of the car as 41-year-old Thaddeus Elias Simmons, and after investigation, determined that he was involved in an argument with the other vehicle’s driver that led him to the reckless pursuit before the crash…
