1,000 flags line River Landing Drive as Daniel Island Field of Honor marks 11th year

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) — The Daniel Island Exchange Club’s annual Field of Honor has returned for its 11th year, with 1,000 American flags lining River Landing Drive ahead of Independence Day to honor veterans, active-duty military members and other community heroes while raising money for local veteran organizations.

The patriotic display was installed around Flag Day and will remain in place through July 5. Organizers say the tradition has grown significantly since it began with about 350 flags more than a decade ago.

“We started with about 350 11 years ago,” Field of Honor lead Ron Zumstein said. “The last three years we’ve put up 1,000 flags.”…
