Charleston County nears construction on Folly Road pedestrian improvements

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston County is moving closer to starting construction on pedestrian improvements along Folly Road, a project residents have waited for since 2017.

The county is redesigning almost 2 miles of Folly Road from Ellis Creek Bridge to Wilton Street. The project will add 7,000 feet of new pedestrian path.

Crews will build 7- and 8-foot sidewalks, resurface the road to make room for wider bike lanes and paint intersections with high-visibility green markings…
