CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — About 400 Charleston County School District central office employees will serve as substitute teachers or in other roles starting this school year, under a new initiative district officials say is the first of its kind in South Carolina.
Starting in October, every CCSD central office staff will be required to serve once per quarter in a role outside of their day-to-day job. Employees will serve four days, whether as a substitute in a classroom, working in the employee daycare, or in the HeadStart program.
