MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and leading authorities on a chase.
Around 3:15 a.m. near Rivers Avenue and Otranto Road, officers with the North Charleston Police Department observed a car speeding after allegedly running a red light. When they attempted to stop the driver, he continued driving onto Interstate 526 eastbound, turning off his lights in a bid to avoid arrest, police said.
Construction prevented the North Charleston police from continuing the chase. However, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office jumped in to assist, chasing the driver along I-526 until the off-ramp onto Long Point Road…
