Charleston charity sells Eastside property to fund mission

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A Charleston charity known for operating a soup kitchen near Mall Park is taking advantage of rising property values on the Eastside.

Our Lady of Mercy on America Street has put a 5-bedroom house on the market to fund renovations, programming and resources to support the charity’s mission.

The organization has served the Eastside of Charleston for more than three decades. Dental and health services were offered out of the building at 79 America Street. The charity is moving everything out of its administrative building as it prepares for new owners to move in next month. The soup kitchen next door will continue to operate as normal…
