As Mount Pleasant grows, officials plan 100-year water supply with new deep well

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — As Mount Pleasant continues to grow, town leaders say they are already planning decades ahead to make sure the area’s water supply can keep up. That planning includes a new project now in its early stages: a test well that could eventually help supply water for the town for generations.

Officials with Mount Pleasant Waterworks say the well would be drilled about 2,500 feet underground, making it the deepest drill the utility has ever attempted. If successful, it would tap into a deeper aquifer not currently used in the region.

“This will be the future water supply if we are successful for Mount Pleasant Waterworks into the next a hundred years and beyond,” General Manager Allan Clum said…
