Sentencing set for North Charleston man convicted in 2020 deadly crime spree

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A North Charleston man who pleaded guilty to murder and related charges in a deadly 2020 Charleston robbery spree is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday, according to the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Solicitor Scarlett A. Wilson announced Tuesday that Darcellus Fishburne, 21, will appear before Circuit Court Judge Jennifer McCoy for sentencing on convictions of murder, armed robbery, and attempted armed robbery. Judge McCoy previously accepted Fishburne’s guilty pleas and deferred sentencing. The hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m Thursday.

Fishburne was charged in connection with the July 17, 2020 fatal shooting of Tom DiLorenzo, 63, who was killed during an attempted armed robbery while walking with his wife, the College of Charleston provost and executive vice president of academic affairs, Suzanne Austin, in downtown Charleston.
