BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — Berkeley County is preserving 1,300 acres in Cordesville after accepting a land donation that will be protected from development and eventually opened to the public as a county park.
County officials said the land—donated by the Estate of Barbara Mead—is located along Highway 402 near Mepkin Abbey and includes a mix of open space and wooded areas. Berkeley County plans to maintain the property as natural greenspace while working toward converting it into a passive park, with opportunities for residents to weigh in before any final plans are set.
