Mount Pleasant has millions to bury power lines, but projects face delays and hurdles

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — Mount Pleasant leaders say they have millions of dollars available to help move power lines underground, but turning those plans into reality is proving to be a slow and complicated process.

In neighborhoods like Hobcaw, overhead lines are still part of daily life — and so are the outages that come with them.

“Every time a storm happens, heavy winds or rain, trees get knocked down and they knock down the power lines and then the whole neighborhood’s out of power for quite a while,” said Caroline Staley, who lives in the area…
