‘Grateful we weren’t there’: Overnight fire rips through Matthews couple’s 15-year home

MATTHEWS, N.C. (WBTV) – An overnight fire tore through a Matthews couple’s home Tuesday — the home they’d lived in for 15 years.

The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at the house along Hinson Drive near Sardis Road.

Firefighters said about 30 crew members were called and had the fire under control within 25 minutes. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
