US Dept. of Education investigates Cabarrus County School District over Title IX violations

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — The U.S. Department of Education has opened an investigation into the Cabarrus County School District, alleging the district violates Title IX by allowing males in girls-only facilities.

The investigation, announced as part of the department’s recognition of June as “Title IX Month,” follows reports from multiple female students who said they were required to dress and undress in the presence of males. Students also reported that the district ignored and dismissed their requests for protection.

According to the department, one student said her former principal told her “there isn’t anything [the District] can do” to protect female students and that girls “can go somewhere else” if they feel uncomfortable…
