Davidson Teen Accused In Fatal Shearer Road Crash

DAVIDSON — A 16-year-old is facing serious legal trouble after an early-morning crash on Shearer Road that killed another 16-year-old, according to Davidson police. Officers identified the driver as Tristan Lehman and the victim as 16-year-old Eamon Leary. Police say Lehman was arrested, booked into the Mecklenburg County jail, and has since posted bail. Investigators allege the teen driver was impaired and driving recklessly at the time of the wreck.

As reported by WSOC, the crash happened early Saturday morning on Shearer Road. Davidson police told the station that Lehman was taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail on Saturday and later posted bond. The brief TV report noted that the information came from a police statement and did not include comments from family members, friends, or witnesses, and police have not yet released detailed information about the crash circumstances or any specific pending charges.

Shearer Road’s Safety Record

Shearer Road is already on the town’s radar for safety problems. Davidson planning documents list it as part of the community’s High Injury Network, pointing to rural stretches with limited sight distance and higher operating speeds that can make crashes more severe. The town’s Town of Davidson Vision Zero Action Plan calls for multimodal upgrades and targeted enforcement on segments of Shearer Road in an effort to reduce serious collisions. Those recommendations focus on longer-term infrastructure changes and enforcement measures that local officials say are intended to curb the most dangerous crashes.
