CHARLOTTE, Mecklenburg County — A fire caused major damage to a two-story home in Charlotte Friday morning, but officials say no one was hurt.
Charlotte Fire crews were called just after 6 a.m. to the 2000 block of Clematis Drive. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames coming from the roof of the home. Engine 19 was the first unit on scene and quickly started working to control the fire.
More crews arrived to help, and firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 40 minutes. Officials say the homeowner was not home when the fire started. No civilians or Charlotte Fire personnel were injured. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force later determined the fire started in the attic near recessed lighting and an electrical junction box…
