Matthews outage knocks out power for 2,300, traffic lights along NC 51

MATTHEWS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — More than 2,300 Duke Energy customers lost power, and several traffic lights were knocked out in Matthews Tuesday evening.

Duke Energy officials say that the outages were reported at 5:43 p.m., covering much of downtown, and the Matthews Township corridor (N.C. 51) from Sam Newell Road to the Charlotte city limits.

Power was restored by 8:45 p.m…
