MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office says overcrowding at the county jail remains a growing concern, with more than 100 inmates currently waiting to be transferred to state prison.
In a statement, the Mecklenburg County Detention Center said, “There are at least 100 residents waiting to be transferred to a state prison, but due to the backlog in the state prison system, they are unable to go at this time.”
