The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers claims representatives spent years trying to contact the establishment. Phone calls went unanswered. Emails sat ignored. Mailed letters got no response. ASCAP wanted to offer a license that would let the venue play music from its catalog, but those offers were declined.
The complaint includes “Party Up (Up in Here),” a DMX anthem co-written by Swizz Beatz. Other songs mentioned are “Jump Around,” “Party All the Time,” and “Shut Up and Dance.”
