Crime Stoppers tip helped lead to arrest of teen accused in deadly Charlotte pool party shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A community tip submitted to Crime Stoppers helped detectives identify a 19-year-old suspect charged in a deadly shooting at a north Charlotte pool party, according to Detective Ashley Phillips with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers.

Kmari Knotts is charged with first-degree murder and four counts of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the March 22 shooting off Hucks Road.

Police said Knotts killed 20-year-old Richard Thomas and injured four others when gunfire broke out during the party. Knotts was arrested on May 16 and was denied bond by a Mecklenburg District Court judge…
